Every sport gets a Senior Night except for Cross Country and Track. This year’s XC team complained to Coach Brewster about not having one so he decided we could have one. Brewster had left all the planning and decorating up to his two managers Itzel Dominguez and Ariana Garcia. At our very first home Basketball game of the season we were able to honor our 15 seniors who ran this season and their 3 managers. Roberto Arredondo, Itzel Dominguez, Ariana Garcia, Hector Gonzalez, Aaron Hernandez, Daniela Lazcano, Gema Marquez, Cesar Garcia-Martinez, Cesar Omar Martinez, Xochilt Plascencia, Andy Ramirez, Christian Sanroman, Alex Uribe, Maya Williams, and Fernando Zuniga had the honor to be walked by their friends and family on Tuesday, November 27.

Every Senior was asked to answer the following 5 questions. “How long have you been in Cross Country?” and it was crazy to see how this was a lot of senior’s first year or running or how some had been running since middle school. A lot of their favorite memories from being in XC were made in Fayettville, Arkansas during the Chile Pepper meet. After high school most seniors planned to go to college and some even planned to get a scholarship for running. When asked “What you will miss the most about Cross Country?” there was a variety of answers. The runners obviously said running, and the adrenaline pumping through your body while sprinting across the finish line or going out to eat as a team after every meet.

Roberto Arredondo was walked by his mother and his message to future runners is “To just keep running your heart out.”

Itzel Dominguez was accompanied by her family and boyfriend, her advice to future runners was “Don’t be a bad manager or else Brewster will fail you.”

Ariana Garcia was honored by her family and her message to future runners was to “choose your managers wisely because they won’t be a great as we were this season.”

Hector Gonzalez was accompanied by his parents and his advice to future runners was “Enjoy it while you can.”

Senior Aaron Hernandez was walked by his 3 friends Marcos, Abishai, and Daniel, his message to future runners is “to ignore the pain because it only lasts for a few minutes”.

Daniela Lazcano was honored by her family and her advice to future runners is “Run your hearts out because senior year is right around the corner and soon high school is over.”

Senior Gema Marquez was accompanied by her parents on senior night and her advice to future runners was “Do what you can because tomorrow isn’t promised”.

Cesar Garcia-Martinez was honored by his family and wants future runners to know to “keep working, it’ll be worth it.”

Cesar Omar Martinez was walked by his 3 friends Lizette, Leo, and Gabriel and his advice to future runners is “If you fall don’t give up keep trying.”

Xochilt Plascencia was accompanied by her father on senior night and her message to future runners is “to try hard every practice ad make it count.”

Andy Ramirez was pictured with Mrs.Maz and Coach Brewster, Andy’s wants future runners to know “those who aren’t willing to sacrifice everything, can never expect to gain anything in return.”

Christian Sanroman was honored by his family and reminds future runners “don’t get a tattoo mid-season”.

Alex Uribe was accompanied by Mr.Font and wants future runners to know “Enjoy the seasons while they last because it ends in the blink of an eye.”

Maya Williams was walked by her family and wants future runners to know “…to just keep going and never stop. The only thing that stopping you is yourself. The faster you run the faster you’re done.”

Last but not least we have senior Fernando Zuniga who was pictured with Mrs.Maz and his message to future runners is “Remember everyone starts at the bottom so don’t be discouraged.”
