Coach Wood along with nine members of the baseball team attended an event in Moore where they got to help people with disabilities play baseball. Coach Wood said it was a privilege to volunteer their time to help out. He also said it was a humbling experience, that those people have it a lot tougher than a lot of us so we should be grateful for what we have. The event consisted of three games, each lasting an hour. The first two games were played with kids and the last with adults. Joseph Carmona is one of the players who went he said they basically just helped the kids and adults play the game, keeping them safe on the field, batting for those whose disabilities didn’t allow it and talking  to them making sure they had fun. Having had no previous experience with people with special needs Joseph says he was apprehensive at first, that he honestly thought it would be a hassle but once participating he realized he was wrong, “You kind of get a heart for them and you start to miss them after you’re gone.” The baseball team will continue to help out every Tuesday with different players going each time.
