Overwatch is a hero based first person shooter game created by Blizzard. The game puts players on opposing teams of six to capture or push an objective. The game is considered an eSport that has professional players and tournaments. Currently there are twenty four playable characters each with different weapons and abilities.
Rumors of a new character have been going around for awhile now, with Blizzard releasing teasers about Doomfist a villainous character with a gauntlet, and an eleven year old robotics prodigy named Effie. Finally on March 2, 2017, the “Play Overwatch” YouTube channel announced the release of a new hero, Orisa.
Orisa, has a backstory intertwined with Doomfist and Effie. Effie built Orisa to fight Doomfist in after seeing a Doomfist attack.
Jeff from the Overwatch team said that Orisa was supposed to be a tank similar to Reinheart as a shield. She has a set of abilities that make her hard to move. She is supposed to fill a role as an anchor to build a team around.
Right now, she is undergoing tests in the Public Test Region (PTR) and her full release date is still not announced. Generally, after the release into the PTR it takes one or two weeks to see a full release.
