The Oklahoma Music Educators Association All- State Music Festival is an honor choir of elite high school singers. The total number of students that auditioned for the All State was 1879, after two rounds of auditions only 203 students made it to the ensemble that came from 67 schools, two being our very own Ben Brewster and Oscar Larios. “Those two worked real hard and I’m proud of them,” said Mrs. Trosper.
Ben’s experience going into All-State was thrilling and he was amazed by the quality of music, and being able to participate in an astounding and beautifully preforming choir. In preparation for All- State, he practiced the music during his choir class. Ben was overwhelmed with emotions when he stepped into the building, he was ready to perform even though he was nervous, but he didn’t let his nerves stop him. Ben Brewster said, “For everyone who wants to be in All-State, practice makes perfect so you have chances to experience that.”
For Oscar, going to All-State and being in a choir where everyone has incredible talents was a life changing experience. He worked hard everyday practicing the music after school for twenty minutes. Although, there were days that he didn’t want to practice, but he knew by not practicing he wouldn’t make it to All-State. He was grateful for earning the opportunity to perform music in front of an audience. He said, “If you have passion for music keep motivated and use that to practice your music.”
